Wow! It's here and open. But how did we arrive at this monumental moment?
Well, it started with a big problem...a problem every girl and woman faces more than once in their life. A foe like no other. One which depletes all self-confidence. Drives us to weep and sob with despair. Creates friction between ourselves and our fellow man. The formidable enemy I speak of is a closet, specifically one in which you can find NOTHING to wear.
Now couple that with the raging hormones of a tweenage girl whose body is simultaneously changing at lightening speed and not fast enough. Whose self-confidence dwindles with every piece of clothing she tries on. Always asking, "When will I get taller?" "Why are they so skinny and I'm not?" and saying "This looks great on them but not on me!"
Now think of a mother, who searches the minimal selections of her hometown to dress said daughter. And finds nothing. Well, she finds items. She really does! But most of them are either not her (very picky, but very stylish) daughter's style or are too, for lack of a better word, "growny" for her 11-year-old daughter. She finds that the selection is either girls clothes (cut for elementary ages) or basically the equivalent of no clothes in the juniors department.
Which leads to very a specific problem. The problem being the huge gapping hole in the fashion industry between the ages of 10 and 18. One in which girls no longer feel comfortable and confident in their clothes without showing an alarming amount of skin. Being taught with every click and scroll that their worth is wrapped in how well they can pull off a crop top. Now I'm not saying crop tops are evil. In certain situations, within a certain age, and at a certain length they can be tasteful and cute.
What's the solution to this problem? Well...Jesus is the answer. He's the only one we can find our worth and purpose in. But while Jesus is working on hearts, we are here to help girls find something to put on in the morning. Something moms, dads and daughters will be happy about them wearing.
We've sourced clothes with these things in mind:
- The age of the girl wearing it. To quote Brittney Spears..."Not a girl, not yet a woman."
- The current trends
- Comfort
- Affordability
- Modesty. This doesn't mean nun approved, just Jesus approved...and he's cooler than you think. ;)
Our solution is Mint Daisy. Mint meaning new. Daisy representing youth. We want to be the place you can turn to and find new, youthful clothes for the girls in your life. Or if you're a girl, in your life!
